The guiding hand of care
Ella, a three-year-old girl, had a hard start with many health and behavior challenges, including autism and neonatal abstinence syndrome. She first lived with her cousin, a single mom with two kids, but it got too hard to take care of Ella's medical needs. So, Ella had to move to a foster home.
But, this new place didn’t take good care of her. They missed her important treatments, and didn't give her the medicine she needed. April, from the WellSense Care Management team, helped a lot by taking Ella to doctor appointments and checking in on her at home. When they found out Ella wasn’t getting her medicine, she had to move again.
Luckily, Ella’s new foster parent was really good at helping kids with complex needs. With April's help, Ella got all the medical care and therapy she needed. April made sure Ella was well taken care of.
Now, Ella is five and doing great in a loving home. This story shows how important it is to have someone who cares and helps out, like April did for Ella.
