Immunizations

Get your seasonal flu vaccine

Flu season normally starts in October, when the weather begins to cool down. Dry air makes it harder for our bodies to protect us from infection, and people spend more time inside breathing the same air. A seasonal flu vaccine is one of the best and safest ways to protect yourself and those around you from the flu so that you can enjoy more healthy, productive days. Everyone 6 months or older (with rare exceptions) is recommended to get a vaccine every year. Visit cdc.gov/flu for more information.

And don’t forget to stay up to date with your COVID-19 vaccines and boosters too. Vaccination against COVID-19 reduces your risk of severe illness, hospitalization and even death. Learn more at vaccines.gov.

Flu and COVID-19 vaccinations are available at no out-of-pocket cost to every WellSense member if administered from an in-person provider or pharmacist

Preparing for your annual wellness visit

Going to an annual exam is one of the most important things you can do to manage your health. This once-a-year checkup gives you and your healthcare provider a snapshot of your overall wellness. When you know where your health stands it’s much easier to keep track of any changes.

As a member of WellSense, your annual visits are covered at no cost to you. Here are some tips to make your annual wellness visit as effective as possible:

"Free" healthcare offers may be anything but

Fraudsters can use the word “free” to lure you into scams. Offers of free healthcare services may be schemes to charge you or your insurance for treatments or services you never end up receiving.

Be wary of:
  • Calls, emails or visits offering free medical services or equipment
  • Pressure from unfamiliar salespeople to take action right away
  • Requests for personal information like your insurance information or Social Security number
  • Anything that seems too good to be true
Always:
  • Verify offers by contacting your healthcare provider or WellSense
  • Guard your information (never give out personal or insurance information to unknown callers or unsolicited contacts)
  • Report suspicious activity to WellSense at 888-411-4959 or FraudandAbuse@wellsense.org
